Moving to Bundaberg

A guide for healthcare professionals · Nine chapters

A river city in southern Queensland’s Wide Bay–Burnett region, four hours north of Brisbane, where the health service is growing faster than the population and the southern Great Barrier Reef starts offshore. This guide covers what is specific to Bundaberg; everything national is explained once, elsewhere, and linked from here.

Local chapters are written for Bundaberg. National chapters are the same wherever in Australia you land, so they live once in the master guide and appear here at their right reading position — you only read them once.

Who this is for
  • Internationally qualified clinicians weighing a move to regional Queensland — from the UK, Ireland, South Africa, the UAE and beyond.
  • Our Australian work is currently concentrated in medical imaging, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine and radiology. If your profession is not one of those yet, we will say so plainly rather than waste your time.
  • There is nothing in this guide asking you to register with us, and no visa advice. It is here because the decision deserves better information than a job advert.
Where we’d steer you instead
  • If you need a tertiary bench beside you — Bundaberg is a four-hour drive or a seventy-minute flight from one. For subspecialty depth and formal training pathways, Brisbane is the answer.
  • If you want coast and scale together — the Gold Coast gives you beaches with a city’s services behind them, at a city’s housing cost.
  • If the wet season worries you — November to March is humid and stormy here. Somewhere further south sits in a different climate; the Queensland brief sets out how much the state changes as you move down it.
