How we use your information
The short, plain-English version. Your CV is the most personal thing you will send us, so here is exactly what happens to it.
Last updated 23 August 2026What we ask for
Only what we need to help you move. That is your name and contact details, your profession and qualifications, where you trained and where you are registered, your right to work, and what you are looking for.
You choose how much to tell us. The registration pathway checker asks for none of it — you get your result before we ever ask who you are.
Why we ask for it
Every question we ask changes the advice we can give. Where you trained determines which registration pathway is open to you. Where you hold registration can open a streamlined route. Your nationality and residence determine which visas apply. Without those answers we would be guessing, and guessing is how people lose months.
Some of what we ask is sensitive — who is moving with you, for instance. We ask because relocating a family is a completely different piece of work from relocating one person, and it changes which regions and roles are realistic. You can leave it blank and we will still help you.
The tools on this site
Most of what is here you can use without telling us anything. The pathway checker, the cost calculator, the CV builder and the moving checklist all run in your own browser, and what you type into them stays on your device unless you choose to send it.
If you ask us to email you your result, we use your name and email address to send it, and the same summary comes to us so we can help if you want us to. The link in that email reopens your result — it carries your answers, not a record we hold, so it recalculates against the current rules each time rather than showing you something out of date.
Two things are optional, and neither is a condition of using anything. You can ask us to email you when a role comes up in your profession, and you can ask for the quarterly update on what has changed in registration, visas and pay. Both are unticked by default, we record the exact wording you agreed to, and every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe. Saying no to both does not change what the site will do for you.
The relocation guides are free and ungated. Every guide downloads from the guides page on one click, without an email address and without a form, and that is not going to change. If you would rather we emailed one to you, that is a separate choice you make on the same page.
Whenever you send us anything through this site — a message, a request for a guide or a pack, your interest in a move, a pathway or cost result you ask us to email — we keep what you sent in two places: our form service, and one enquiry list in our candidate database, so a person can see your whole history with us in one place rather than across separate inboxes. We use it to reply to you and to send what you asked for. A phone number is always optional and is only used if you ask for a call. We keep an enquiry for two years from the day you sent it, unless you start working with us or have asked us to keep in touch. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering a request you made; the two optional emails are only ever sent if you ticked them, and we keep the exact wording you agreed to alongside your enquiry.
If you ask us to email you a guide, we use your email address to send it, and we keep a record of which guide you asked for — with your profession and destination if you chose to tell us. We keep that record on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing what people planning this move are actually looking for, so we can see which guides to write next and which professions to open. It is not used to market to you unless you separately asked for that below, and you can object to us holding it at all: email us and it goes. Nothing from it reaches an employer unless you ask us to put you forward.
Ask Ethicare is an AI assistant. Your question, and the conversation you have with it, are sent to a specialist AI provider to generate the answer — we do not store the conversation, and it is not added to any record about you. It is general guidance, not immigration or legal advice, and we would ask you not to put passport numbers, financial details or medical information into it.
Who sees your CV
Inside Ethicare, only the people working on your move. We do not publish CVs, we do not add you to a searchable database that other agencies can access, and we do not sell or trade candidate data. Ever.
Your CV is not sent anywhere else without you knowing which employer, which role, and when.
Sharing your details with an employer
We share your details with an employer when you have agreed to a specific application — a named role, with a named employer, that you have said yes to. Not before.
That means you are never in a position where your CV has been sent somewhere you did not expect. If you decide against a role after we have shared it, tell us and we will let the employer know to close the file.
Once an employer has your details, they process them under their own privacy notice as well as ours. We can tell you who to contact there if you want to exercise your rights with them directly.
Moving your information between countries
We are a UK company placing people into New Zealand and Australia, so your information does cross borders.
New Zealand is covered by a UK adequacy decision, which means the UK government has formally recognised its data protection standards. No additional mechanism is needed for your information to go there.
Australia does not hold a UK adequacy decision. We therefore share your information with an Australian employer only on the basis of your explicit agreement to that specific application, and we will tell you plainly that it is going to Australia when we ask.
If you would rather your information did not leave the UK, tell us. It will limit what we can do for you, but that is your call to make and we would rather you made it knowingly.
How long we keep it
Only as long as it is useful to you. International moves are slow — people often come back to us a year or two after a first conversation, and starting again from nothing helps nobody. So we keep your details while there is a realistic prospect of helping you, and while any legal obligation requires it.
A guide request is lighter than a candidate record and is kept for two years from the day you asked, unless you have also asked us to keep in touch — in which case it is kept while that permission stands. Withdraw the permission and the marketing stops the same day; the request record still goes after its two years, or sooner if you ask.
We do not keep candidate records indefinitely, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time without giving a reason. We will confirm when it is done.
Your choices
- Ask for a copy of everything we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Ask us to delete your record
- Withdraw your agreement to be contacted, at any time
- Tell us not to share your information with a particular employer, or a particular country
- Ask us to stop processing while a dispute is resolved
The full legal detail sits in our Privacy Policy. This page is the plain-English version; where the two differ, the Privacy Policy is the formal statement.
If you think something has gone wrong
Tell us first — email hello@ethicareresourcing.com and it will reach a person, not a queue. We would always rather fix something ourselves.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s independent data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk. Ethicare Resourcing is registered with the ICO under reference ZC272910. You do not have to come to us first.
