Anaesthetic Technician — Gisborne

PermanentFull-timeGisborne, New Zealand

A qualified anaesthetic technician, joining a small and committed team in a regional hospital: acute and elective operating lists, ED trauma calls, and cover across ICU and Radiology. The variety here is real, and so is the size of the team — weigh both.

About the role

You’ll join a small, close-knit anaesthetic technician team in a regional hospital, working across a broad mix of acute and elective operating lists. It’s the kind of varied, hands-on role a larger centre can’t always offer. You’ll be a valued part of a team that knows each other well and looks out for one another day to day.

As part of the wider theatre and critical-care service, you’ll respond to ED trauma calls and provide cover across ICU and Radiology, so no two weeks look quite the same. It’s a supportive environment for internationally trained technicians, whether you’re moving from the UK, South Africa, the UAE or beyond, with Ethicare guiding you through registration, visas and the move itself.

What the role involves

  • Preparing, checking and maintaining anaesthetic equipment and drugs for each list
  • Assisting the anaesthetic team across acute and elective surgical lists
  • Responding to ED trauma calls as part of the on-call roster
  • Providing cover across ICU and Radiology as required
  • Working closely within a small multidisciplinary theatre team

About you

  • A qualified Anaesthetic Technician with a current NZ practising certificate, or eligible to obtain one
  • Registered with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (MSCNZ), or eligible to register
  • Holding NZSATS registration, or the qualifications to work toward it
  • Calm under pressure, with strong communication and teamwork
  • Happy to take part in an on-call roster
